XS13 - Italian Railways Set 1

The Lifecolor paint set Italian Railways Set 1

A themed set of modeling paints from Lifecolor devoted to the Italian railways. The ordinal number in the name places it as the first volume of a subject that, at the same maker, further sets with the same aim follow on from. The selection of shades is led by the subject, not by one particular model, so you will use it on as many subjects as fit into the circle in question.

Why the Italian railway has a palette of its own

Through the whole twentieth century the Italian railway network kept a visual language of its own, different from British and from Central European habits, both on motive power and on passenger and freight cars. A modeler building in the usual railroad scales therefore does not usually get by with a general palette and looks for tones matched to precisely this subject. A themed set shortens that work: the shades are chosen for one circle and correspond to one another, which is useful above all where several areas with different finishes adjoin on one model.

Use and tips

• Stir the contents of the bottle properly before every use.
• Build the coverage gradually, because a thin layer preserves the engraving and the fine detail of the surface.
• Follow the details given by the manufacturer on the packaging for thinning and for cleaning the tools.
• Mixing the shades within one set is the fastest way to smooth transitions.
• Wipe the residue of paint out of the cap, the bottle then seals better and the paint lasts longer.

Who the set is for

The set is aimed at railroad modelers and at collectors who build trains to an Italian subject and want the matching paints together. It will serve in building a scene too, where a vehicle is meant to chime with the station architecture and its surroundings.

Keep out of the reach of children, in well closed bottles, and ventilate the area while you work.
