A model of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification work MJ-S 2 Uvoz in 1:1000 scale from ROP o.s. is a small model for collectors of fortification subjects.

The model depicts a work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification designated MJ-S 2 with the code name Uvoz, meaning a sunken lane. It is made by ROP o.s., which works consistently on models of the Czechoslovak border fortification and offers them in several scales. The 1:1000 scale is deliberately small: at this size a whole section of the defense line can be gathered gradually on one base or in one display cabinet, which is not realistic in the larger scales. The material, the number of parts and the dimensions of the finished model are stated on the packaging.
The Czechoslovak border fortification was built from the middle of the 1930s under the direction of the Fortification Works Directorate. The strongest part of the line consisted of reinforced concrete blockhouses with several embrasures, which as a rule were built so that neighboring works covered one another with flanking fire. The front wall was usually strengthened and banked with earth, so that seen from the border the work was harder to range on. The designation of each work is made up of the abbreviation of the construction section, a sequence number and a code name that was used in the field for quick orientation.
The basis is a gray concrete shade, but never leave it uniform: different batches of concrete and the marks of the formwork can be suggested with several slightly different tones applied dry. A thinned dark wash will bring out the embrasures and the edges, and fine drybrushing in a light gray will pull the corners out. In 1:1000 scale less is more, so dose the weathering sparingly, or the model coarsens. Render the surrounding terrain rather with low static grass and fine sand, so that the impression of the size of the structure is preserved.
The model is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
