About product

MO-S 8 Dvur Paseky 1:1000 (ROP o.s.)

A small model of a structure of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification in 1:1000 scale from the Czech publisher ROP o.s. The scale is deliberately very small: it makes it possible to collect and display whole sections of the fortification side by side, to compare the types of structures and their size, or to set them into a relief scheme of the defensive line. The model is intended for collectors and for anyone interested in the history of the border fortification, not for detailed building of an interior.

The real subject

The MO-S 8 Dvur Paseky infantry blockhouse stands near Bohumin and belongs to the Moravska Ostrava construction section, specifically to the Bohumin subsection of the Hlucin engineer group command. Historically it is an exceptional structure: it was the first concreted blockhouse of the whole system of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification, and the concreting took place in December 1935. It is a single-story blockhouse firing to both sides, in the second class of resistance, fitted with two infantry cupolas. The oldest structures in the Ostrava area followed French models of the Maginot Line in their shapes, and only as experience accumulated did Czech designers simplify the construction and adapt it to home conditions.

Tips for finishing and displaying

In the chosen scale it is above all the silhouette and the setting of the structure in the terrain that stand out. The model benefits from a simple base with a suggested slope and the earth backfill against which the structure largely leaned. Concrete is well captured with a gray base coat into which a darker tone is washed into the joints and edges; a darker shade will set the cupolas and embrasures apart. A label with the designation of the structure is a usual addition if you are building the collection as an overview of the whole line.

Who it is for

  • Collectors of models of the Czechoslovak fortification
  • Anyone interested in the military history of the years 1935 to 1938
  • Makers of relief maps and schemes of the defensive line
  • Museum and club displays with limited space

The exact execution, the material and the degree of completion of the model follow the manufacturer's current range; a base and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Very small — in this scale a real blockhouse becomes an object of the order of centimeters. The point is to collect and compare several structures side by side, not the detailed building of one.

It was the very first concreted structure of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification; the concreting took place in December 1935 in the Bohumin subsection.

An infantry blockhouse is a combat structure of the heavy fortification for infantry weapons. The class of resistance states the thickness of the roof and the front walls, that is, how heavy a fire the structure was meant to withstand.

Yes, that is exactly why the 1:1000 scale was chosen. The structures can be set into a relief scheme of the line and show their distribution in the terrain.
