Responsibility details are not available.
A miniature model of an infantry casemate from the Czech range of the ROP association, which maps the works of the Czechoslovak fortifications in a single 1:1000 scale. That single scale is the greatest strength of the collection: the individual works follow on from one another just as they do in the field, and in time the collection grows into a clear model of the whole defensive line.
The casemate with the code name Pod lesem, meaning below the wood, was designed in the Nachod sector of the heavy fortifications as one of the works of the Skutina fortress in the Orlicke Mountains, whose system also included the neighboring casemate U stodol. The infantry casemates formed the reinforced concrete backbone of the defense built in the second half of the 1930s; their weapons fired mainly along the flanks of the line, so that the works protected one another. The Skutina fortress was still unfinished in the autumn of 1938 and after the Munich Agreement the work was not carried on.
The basis is the gray of concrete in several slightly differing shades, so that the surface does not look flat. A dark wash brings out the embrasures and the joints, and a dry brush lightens the edges. The miniature comes into its own on a small base with grass scatter or on a shared board with the other works of the sector.
The miniature is supplied unpainted. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
