A resin accessory for a model of the Airbus A320neo in 1:144 scale. The set replaces the engine nacelles from a base kit and is fitted to the pylons under the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a detail part bought to go with one.
The LEAP is the successor of the older CFM56 family and the form for the Airbus carries the designation 1A. Compared with its predecessor it has a markedly larger fan, so the nacelle is bulkier and longer as well, positioned differently on the pylon and with a modified shape of the intake. It is precisely this difference that is the main reason the set is bought: a model built with nacelles of the older generation looks at first glance like the previous type of aircraft, even if it has the correct wingtip. The modernized A320 range is moreover offered with two different engines from two manufacturers, which differ from each other in the shape of the intake and of the rear of the nacelle, so the choice of set goes by the particular machine you are building, not just by the type of aircraft.
The first step is always a bath: wash the castings in warm water with dish soap and let them dry, otherwise mold release agent stays on the surface and neither paint nor glue will take hold. Cut the pour block away with a saw and level the remainder by sanding, not by cutting. Resin takes paint well, but without a base coat the surface rubs during handling, so spray a primer. It is good to paint the inside of the intake before the nacelle is closed up and glued to the pylon. It is glued with super glue; do not inhale the dust from sanding.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
