This is a resin accessory in 1:144 scale, not a model of an aircraft. The set revolves around the LEAP-1A engine nacelle, that is the powerplant offered for the Airbus A320neo family. The name denotes the form with a stand, so the casting makes sense as an engine displayed on its own as well. Cast resin can carry detail in this scale that injection-molded plastic cannot manage — the thin edge of the intake, the fine structure of the pylon mounting and the division of the rear of the nacelle.
The LEAP-1A is the version of the CFM International engine for the modernized Airbus A320neo family, where carriers choose between it and the competing unit from Pratt and Whitney. Compared with the 1B version for the Boeing 737 MAX it has a larger fan diameter — the taller landing gear and the differently set wing of the Airbus allow it — so the nacelle looks more massive and is a recognition mark of the neo family against the older CFM56 generation. The name of the set does not determine a particular aircraft, and the installation differs between the A320neo and A321neo versions; before buying, therefore, check which model you need the nacelle for.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that no mold release agent stays on the surface. Cut the pour blocks away with a saw, never break them off — resin cracks unpredictably. Make the joints with super glue; cement for plastic does not work here. Sanding goes more easily than with plastic, but a dust harmful to health arises, so work wet or with a respirator. A primer underneath is practically obligatory with resin; the polished surfaces of the engine will then take even metallic shades, which you apply at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
