In this scale the model fits well into a display case alongside other airliners and the size relationships between types stay readable. The Airbus A350-900 is a twin-engine widebody airplane intended for long-haul routes. The airframe is dominated by the extensive use of composite materials in the fuselage as well as the wing, by an aerodynamically clean wing with curved tips, and by the characteristic dark surround to the cockpit windows. Power comes from Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines developed for this type. The prototype flew in 2013, the airplane entered scheduled service in 2015, and the version designated 900 is the basic, shorter variant of the family; the longer A350-1000 came later. The type established itself with carriers on routes where fuel consumption and range are decisive.
The fuselage of an airliner has large smooth areas, so it pays to spend time on the seams — glue the joint with thin cement for plastic, let it cure thoroughly and only then sand through several grits until it is smooth. Lay down a uniform primer before painting, which will reveal any scratches left. The white and gray areas of airliners forgive little, so spray thin covering coats with an airbrush. Go over the model with a gloss varnish before the decals, settle the markings with a softener and finally even the surface out with a varnish in the degree of sheen you have chosen. We recommend masking the landing gear bays and the windows rather than painting them in afterwards.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
