1:144 Hellcat drop tank is a resin accessory for a model of the Grumman F6F Hellcat carrier fighter already built or under construction, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from Brengun cast in modeling resin. It is not an aircraft model but an external store that is added under the fuselage or the wing where the kit does not include it or where the part from the box is weak in shape. A resin casting holds sharper transitions of form and has no parting plane across the whole surface as an injected part does, so once the casting block is cut off a minimum of sanding is left.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American Second World War carrier fighter with a radial engine and a folding wing. Drop tanks were carried on carrier machines mainly for range over the sea, and on a model they are a typical identifying feature of machines on long patrol flights.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry; there is usually some mold release agent left on the surface, and neither glue nor paint will hold on it. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw rather than nippers, as the material is brittle. Sand under water or with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be inhaled. It is bonded with super glue, ideally into a pre-drilled hole with a short wire pin, as the joint is then stronger than a butt joint. It is painted over a primer so that the coat holds.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
