A set of decals with the national insignia of the Regia Aeronautica from the period of the Second World War, prepared for models in 1:144 scale. The figures in the name give the real diameters of the insignia on the aircraft, that is 600, 700, 850, 1000, 1100 and 1200 millimeters. Reduced into 1:144 scale they correspond to insignia roughly four to eight millimeters across. The six sizes on the sheet thus cover machines of various dimensions and, according to the name, the package holds two sets, so the same markings will do for two models or serve as a reserve if the application gives trouble.
Sheets of this kind are usually applied the wet way. Cut the insignia out close to the edge of the printing, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until the film starts to move on the paper. The surface should be smooth and glossy, otherwise air is trapped under the film and the edges go white once dry. Move the insignia into place, press the water out with a soft cloth and draw the excess off. Over riveting and panel lines a softener applied in a thin coat helps. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined.
The set suits modelers who build in a small scale and need insignia in exact sizes, as well as those adding markings to a kit without a suitable sheet. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
