FLY 1:144 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-31 Firebird II is a plastic kit of the DC-9 airliner in the Firebird II reconnaissance conversion.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale from FLY. It covers the twin-engine McDonnell Douglas DC-9-31 jet airliner in the unusual reconnaissance conversion known as Firebird II. Besides the plastic sprues the package usually holds a cast resin part and a decal sheet with the Firebird II scheme. The model has to be built and painted.
The DC-9 is a classic American narrow-body airliner with two engines mounted at the rear of the fuselage, built from the 1960s onward. The individual Firebird II aircraft came from the conversion of a DC-9 that had been in service earlier and was substantially modified in the late 1990s for special and reconnaissance tasks, operating from a base in the Mojave Desert.
We recommend filling and sanding down the fuselage and the mold seams before painting. Fit the clear parts only after the basic areas have been sprayed. Wash the mold release agent off the resin part before gluing and bond it with super glue. The antennas and sensors of the special conversion are fine, so work carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
