Brengun 1:144 MiG-17F is a replacement clear canopy for a plastic kit, not an aircraft model. It lets you show the cockpit open and replaces the thick kit part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a separate clear part from the Czech maker Brengun, cut for the plastic MiG-17F model named in the title. It serves as a replacement for the original injected canopy.
An injected clear part has to keep a certain minimum wall thickness because of the mold. In 1:144 scale that means the frame and the glazing look disproportionately heavy and the material is only semi-transparent. A part drawn from thin clear film does not have that drawback: it is an order of magnitude thinner, it lets more light through and above all it lets you cut off the moving section and build the model with the cockpit open, which is practically impossible with a thick kit part.
The MiG-17F was the most widespread version of the Soviet single-engine subsonic fighter derived from the MiG-15. Compared with the basic version it had an afterburning engine and a longer rear fuselage. The aircraft served in dozens of countries and in small scales it is among the classic Cold War subjects.
The film cuts well but it does not forgive haste. Always leave a margin and sand down gradually, because material you have taken off does not come back. It pays to hold the part with masking tape while you test the fit. The frames are masked with narrow strips of tape cut on glass, or painted by hand with very thin paint. Finish and close the cockpit before gluing, because once the canopy is on you cannot get inside.
The part is an accessory to a plastic kit, which it does not include. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
