A resin accessory for modelers who are building the Boeing 747-400 in 1:144 scale and want precisely shaped nacelles under the wing instead of the simplified parts from a kit. The set is not a model of the aircraft, but a set of replacement parts that are seated on the pylons under the leading edge of the wing.
The -524G and -524H versions are two power ratings of the same form of the engine, which arose for the Boeing 747-400. That is precisely why both designations stand side by side in the name: externally it is the same powerplant, and they differ in settings, not in outline. The three-shaft structure of the RB211 was retained, but the engine was given wide-chord fan blades, that is wider blades with no mid-span stiffeners between them. Compared with the older Jumbos the nacelle is fuller and divided differently, which is clearly apparent when seen from the front. The set therefore matches an aircraft with extended wingtips and a modern flight deck, not the earlier series.
On larger castings a small air void just under the surface appears from time to time and only comes out after the first sanding. It is not a fault that would stop a build: fill it with quick-drying filler or a drop of super glue with a little sanding dust and sand the area over again. Cut the pour block away with a saw and level the surface on sanding paper laid on glass or on a board, so a flat mating joint is formed. Try things dry before gluing; resin forgives fewer mistakes than plastic. Do the sanding with respiratory protection.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
