This photo-etched detail set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:16 scale holds the side armor skirts (Schürzen) of a Panther Ausf.G tank model. Thin metal plates catch the gauge and the shape of the real thing more faithfully than thicker plastic parts and allow realistic bending or damage. It is not a model but an accessory.
The Schürzen side armor skirts protected the lower part of the hull and the running gear of the Panther, above all against antitank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition. In practice they were often bent, damaged or partly missing, which makes a rewarding subject for a realistic treatment of a model.
The set will be appreciated by builders of large Panther Ausf.G models who want thin and convincing side skirts with the option of battle damage. Working with photo-etched sheet calls for a more experienced modeler.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
