A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:32 scale for refining the outer surface details of the MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter. It is not an airplane model but an accessory fitted on a plastic kit, which adds thin and faithful exterior features.

The real subject

The MiG-29 Fulcrum is a Soviet, later Russian frontline fighter from the Mikoyan design bureau. Its surface carries a number of covers, flaps, sensors and venting features, which the photo-etched set renders more realistically than plastic.

Use and fitting

• The parts are separated with a sharp blade and formed in a bending tool or with tweezers.
• They are glued with super glue applied in a small amount.
• The plastic originals are sanded flat before the parts are fitted.
• Degrease the brass and prime it with a base for metal before painting.
