It is not a model of a vehicle and it is not a figure; it is a small part with which the equipment of a figure or the scene around a model is finished off. In 1:16 scale the figure of an adult person measures roughly eleven centimeters, so the shape of the pockets and the run of the straps will be visible on the backpack.
Personal equipment is the quickest way to people a scene even without a figure. The backpack can be laid on a cargo bed, propped against a wheel, hung on the side of a vehicle or put on a figure's back. With radio-controlled models of equipment in 1:16 scale it helps to blur the difference between a toy and a model. The number 2 designates one particular form within the range; the other numbers have a different shape, so be guided by the forms before buying.
Separate the part from the casting block, level the area after the cut and wash it in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent before painting, as the paint then holds far better. Choose the glue according to the material of the part; cyanoacrylate glue is the universal choice for resin as well as printed parts. Apply a primer, spray the base shade with an airbrush and bring out the depth with a dark wash in the seams and folds. A dry brush in a lighter tone along the edges will emphasize the straps and buckles, and a fine pigment at the bottom will suggest dust. Leave a textile surface matte, as gloss looks unnatural on cloth.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a figure and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
