A resin armament set for the Seafire FR.46/47 in 1:48 scale replaces the plastic barrels and weapon covers with finer castings. An accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft.

The resin castings from the maker CMK complete the wing armament of the late carrier-based Seafire in the FR.46 and FR.47 versions in 1:48 scale. The set is fitted into a plastic kit, which you have to have separately; on its own it is not a model of the aircraft.
The Seafire is the carrier-based derivative of the Spitfire, modified for operation from ships: a strengthened structure, an arrestor hook and, on the late versions, a folding wing. The FR.46 and FR.47 versions belong to the end of the development line, have a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine with a contra-rotating propeller and a markedly higher weight than the early Spitfires. The wing armament was formed by 20 mm cannons; their barrels protrude ahead of the leading edge and on a model they are thus one of the first details the eye notices. An injected barrel tends to be thick, with a rounded end and no bore.
First cut the original plastic barrels off as close to the leading edge as possible, but with a small margin; with a fine saw rather than nippers, so that the surrounding surface is not dented. Sand the remainder down level with the edge and drill a hole in the mounting place to match the pin of the casting. The dry test then says what matters: whether the barrels protrude the same distance on both halves of the wing and whether they point parallel, which with cannons is noticed at once. Wash the castings free of the release agent beforehand and cut the casting blocks off with a saw; the thin barrels break easily, so take them off only just before gluing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; sand resin wet or with a respirator.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
