Takom 1:16 Wiesel A1 TOW is a plastic kit of the Bundeswehr light tracked weapons carrier in the unusually large 1:16 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from Takom captures the Wiesel light tracked weapons carrier in the A1 version with the TOW anti-tank missile system. For armored vehicles 1:16 is a rather exceptional scale, and on such a small vehicle it makes sense: the finished model is a reasonable size for a display case while offering room for details that would disappear in the usual 1:35 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic kit that has to be assembled and painted. Please check the exact number of parts, the contents of the decal sheet and the number of color schemes against the instructions enclosed.
The Wiesel is a German light tracked vehicle designed to be air-transportable, including as a slung load under a helicopter. It was created for airborne units that needed a mobile carrier for heavier weapons without having to deploy a full armored personnel carrier. The dimensions of the vehicle are very small, the crew consists of only a few people and power comes from a diesel engine. The version with the TOW designation carries the launcher for the anti-tank guided missile of the same name; the second main variant is the version with a 20 mm cannon.
Use liquid cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joint by capillary action and leaves no marks. Assemble and paint the running gear and the inside before you close the hull. Apply a primer before painting; in a large scale an airbrush pays off for even coverage of the large surfaces. At the end, dark washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear will help.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
