A plastic kit of the guided missile destroyer with the hull number 139, NINGBO, in 1:200 scale from Bronco. The ship belongs to the improved project 956EM form (Sovremenny class) of the PLA Navy. The large scale allows a rich rendering of the detail of the superstructures, the armament and the deck; the model makes a striking centerpiece for a display case.
Destroyers of the Sovremenny class were originally built in Soviet yards as multipurpose surface ships. The improved 956EM form was built for the PLA Navy and is armed with anti-ship and anti-aircraft missile systems, guns and a landing area for a helicopter. NINGBO is one of the ships of this series.
Think the build of the hull and the superstructures through before painting. Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and attach the fine antennas and railings last. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush suits the naval camouflage, and in closing bring the detail to life with a weak wash and a dry brush. A firm stand or a base for a display case is suitable.
