An unassembled injection-molded plastic kit in 1:200 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The boxing is aimed at a particular subject: a specially converted machine for electronic warfare training, not the ordinary transport version.
The basis is the twin-jet Kawasaki C-1 transport aircraft, which the Japan Air Self-Defense Force brought into service in the 1970s as a tactical transport with a high-mounted wing, a rear cargo ramp and a short landing run. The version designated EC-1 came about by converting one airframe into a carrier for electronic warfare training equipment. It is recognizable from the production transports above all by the prominent antenna fairings on the nose and on the fuselage, which noticeably change the silhouette of the aircraft. It is precisely these additions that make the model something other than a standard C-1.
At a small scale the cleanliness of the surface matters more than the number of details. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, and sand and if necessary fill the seams on the fuselage and where the antenna fairings join, because on a smooth transport silhouette every step shows. Apply a primer before painting, which evens the surface out and reveals any remaining scratches. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, apply the decals over a gloss coat and even the surface out at the end with a matte or semi-matte coat according to the character of the subject.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
