Aber a set of barrels for the eight-barrel two-pounder pom-pom anti-aircraft gun (1:200) is a turned metal detail set for models of warships.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal detail set from the Polish maker Aber, not a model in itself. It contains accurate replacement barrels for the eight-barrel anti-aircraft gun of 40 mm caliber nicknamed the pom-pom, in 1:200 scale. The set replaces the coarser plastic barrels from the box and noticeably refines the look of the close-in anti-aircraft armament on the deck.
The eight-barrel two-pounder gun of 40 mm caliber was the standard weapon of the close-in air defense of the Royal Navy during the Second World War. It got the nickname pom-pom from the characteristic sound of its fire. It was fitted to battleships, cruisers and smaller vessels alike.
The turned parts are tiny, so work with tweezers and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal before gluing and treat it with a primer so that the paint holds better. Unify the barrels in a dark steel shade and add a fine wash.
This is a detail accessory, not a model of a ship. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
