An injection-molded plastic kit of the Ogre AN-21 machine, the rival of the main hero from a Japanese animated series about formula racing of the future. The name of the box gives the Aero Boost Mode configuration and its heightened form Super Aero Boost Mode. The scale is 1:24, the same as with ordinary automotive kits. The maker is the Japanese firm Aoshima.
The Ogre AN-21 is a darkly styled machine with markedly more aggressive shapes than Asurada. The body is enclosed, with covered wheels and a massive aerodynamic package that widens further in the boost configuration. The cockpit is single-seat, and the whole car comes across as heavier and more angular, which in the series is a deliberate way of setting it apart from the main machine.
A body of such complex shape with many edges lives off its panel lines. Trace the engraved lines on the parts first with a blunt needle or a special scriber along a flexible rule, otherwise the primer and the paint will partly fill them in. Always draw the scriber in one direction and shallowly, as a deep groove cannot be put right. After painting, draw a panel line wash into the lines and wipe the excess off with a cloth damped in clean thinner along the line, not across it. On a dark body a wash a shade lighter than the paint works better, as black on black disappears. Finally, even everything out with a semi-matte clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
