An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima, from the Grand Champion series. The series depicts cars in a period Japanese street modification inspired by the Grand Champion circuit series, not in production condition — so reckon with aerodynamic fittings and with wheels that stand out of the fenders. Specifically it is a two-door hardtop Skyline coupe of the late form, in the version with a turbocharged engine, designated by the body code KHGC211.
The Nissan Skyline of the C210 generation was produced from 1977 and in Japan it is nicknamed Japan after the advertising slogan of the time. It was offered as a sedan as well as a two-door hardtop coupe with an angular body and with characteristic paired round taillights. The late model form brought among other things a two-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, which appeared in the range at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s and became the sporting top of the series; the trim designation 2000 Turbo GT-E S corresponds to it. The car is to this day one of the mainstays of the Japanese retro modification scene.
The angular body of this type is demanding on the flatness of the surfaces — every unsanded seam or depression shows under a gloss finish. Apply a primer, check the surface against the light and only then paint in thin layers. The window frames and the trim strips require a steady hand or masking tape, or possibly a thin glossy finishing tape. Do not sand chrome parts and mask the places where they are cut off. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and cover them with clear coat. Before gluing the chassis up, try the wheels dry and verify the ride height and that the wheel does not rub against the fender.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
