This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa captures the Mazda Cosmo Sport sports coupe in 1:24 scale. According to the name it is the release with a chin spoiler, that is the variant with the additional aerodynamic feature under the front grille. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the exact breakdown of the sprues, the contents of the decal sheet and the number of parts are given by the manufacturer on the box.
The Mazda Cosmo Sport, also known in export as the 110S, was introduced in the second half of the 1960s and became the first series-production car with a two-rotor Wankel engine. The low two-seat coupe with its long nose and flat rear was a technological flagship for Mazda: the rotary engine allowed small installation dimensions and high revs, which gave the car a character that the conventional piston engines of the day did not offer. Today the Cosmo Sport is among the most valuable Japanese classics and is a cornerstone of the whole rotary era of the marque.
On car models the body is the most visible part, so it pays to spend time on the preparation: carefully remove the mold seams and the ejector pin marks, sand the surfaces with fine paper and apply a filler primer. Spray gloss finishes with an airbrush in thin coats and polish them once dry. Bring out the chrome parts and the window frames with a fine brush or by masking. Apply the decals onto a gloss varnish and fix them with a decal softener so that they settle onto the curved surfaces. Finish the interior and the chassis before you close the body up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
