A plastic kit of the Nissan Skyline RS of the DR30 series in the Aero Custom version of 1983, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. The Aero Custom version represents a period-modified coupe with aerodynamic add-ons — exactly the kind of car that defined the Japanese tuning scene in the 1980s and that to this day is among the most popular subjects for builders of Japanese cars.
The Skyline of the R30 series came onto the market at the start of the 1980s and its peak was the sporting RS version with the two-liter sixteen-valve four-cylinder of the FJ20 series. The two-door DR30 version with its sharply cut nose earned a firm place in Japanese pop culture — from circuit racing to famous police series. The year 1983 brought a further sharpening of the range including turbocharged versions, and it is precisely this era that the subject of the kit refers to.
Dry-fit the aerodynamic add-ons and fill any gaps before spraying. Paint the body in thin coats and polish it at the end; a contrasting division of the body is made easier by masking tape with a sharp edge. The interior suits semi-matte shades and the chassis a dark wash. Seat the wheels and the tires carefully — a low, level stance is half the impression on this car.
