About product

Nissan GC34 Laurel Medalist V and Club S 1993 in 1:24 scale

The Aoshima plastic kit in 1:24 scale captures the Nissan Laurel with the factory designation GC34 in the configuration for 1993, the name referring to the Medalist V and Club S trim grades. The model is supplied to be glued and painted. Whether and how both of the stated configurations can be built is governed by the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

In the Nissan range the Laurel belonged among the executive sedans of the middle and upper class intended above all for the Japanese market. The C34 generation was presented in the early 1990s and offered a cleanly handled body with frameless side windows and a roomy interior. The power came from inline six-cylinder engines of the RB family, that is engines related to the technology used in the Skyline model line. The trim grades in the Japanese range differed in the level of equipment and in appearance additions; the Medalist stood higher, while the Club S aimed at more sportingly inclined customers.

Building and painting tips

A sedan with long smooth sides calls for careful preparation of the surface, otherwise every trace of sanding will show once painted. Use a filler primer and apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Apply the metallic finishes typical of Japanese sedans of the day onto a smooth base and complete them with clear varnish, which unifies the gloss. Deal with the chrome window surrounds and strips using metallic paint, a chrome pen or the foils enclosed, if they are in the package. Finish the interior, the instrument panel and the chassis before you close the body up.

Who the model is for

  • collectors of Japanese sedans of the 1990s
  • modelers who want a less usual subject in a collection than a sports coupe
  • anyone interested in working with metallic finishes and chrome detail
  • builders with experience of building cars in 1:24 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The name mentions both configurations; check the extent of the parts for each of them against the enclosed instructions. What decides is the contents of the package and the enclosed instructions.

The Laurel of the C34 generation was powered by inline six-cylinder engines of the RB family, related in design to the engines used in the Skyline model line.

It is a plastic kit. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, without glue and paints.

Onto a smooth surface laid over a base, apply the metallic paint with an airbrush in thin coats and unify the gloss with clear varnish only at the end.
