A plastic kit of the Nissan Skyline sports coupe of the R31 generation in the GTS-X version, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The boxing corresponds to the early version of 1986, which differs from the later form in the details of the front and rear of the car. The 1:24 scale is the standard for car kits and offers room for a detailed engine and interior. The particular contents of the package and the number of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Skyline of the R31 generation appeared in the mid-1980s as a classic rear-wheel drive coupe with a longitudinally mounted inline six. The versions designated Twincam 24V Turbo received a turbocharged two-liter six with twin camshafts in the head and four valves per cylinder, that is an engine from the family that later defined the brand's sports models. The body with its angular lines and the wide band of rear lights is a typical expression of Japanese design of the period. The early and later forms of the R31 differ mainly in the treatment of the grille, the bumpers and the headlights, which matters to the modeler when choosing the markings.
On a car model the paint decides the result. First wash the remains of the release agent off the body, sand the parting lines and ejector marks and apply a filler. Spray the color in several thin coats and let it dry thoroughly, and only then polish it and go over it with gloss clear. Leave the chromed parts on the sprue and glue them with gel cyanoacrylate glue so that the plating is not attacked by thinner. Bring out the window rubbers and surrounds with a fine brush or, very carefully, with a black wash. Finish the interior and the engine bay before you close the body up, and lay the decals onto a fully matured gloss surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
