An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale. The real subject is the Nissan Cedric, or rather its sister model the Gloria, of the Y30 generation in the form of a four-door hardtop (4HT) with the V30E engine and in the top Brougham VIP trim, the 1983 model year. Aoshima is the main maker of kits of Japanese luxury cars in the VIP style and its kits of this category have long been sought after among collectors.
Cedric and Gloria were sister luxury cars from Nissan, sold in parallel through different dealer networks and differing mainly in the details of the grille and the badges. The Y30 generation came in 1983 and brought a V6 engine - until then Japanese limousines had been exclusively the domain of inline engines. The designation V30E refers precisely to the three-liter V6 with injection. The body of a four-door hardtop without a fixed pillar, the angular shapes, a great deal of chrome and a richly equipped interior made it a typical representative of the Japanese luxury class. It was precisely these cars that later gave rise to the VIP style, in which limousines are lowered and fitted with wide wheels.
An angular body with a quantity of chrome strips requires clean work. After filling, restore the sharp edges by sanding on a hard surface. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin layers; dark shades (black, dark blue, burgundy) suit the real subject best, but they will show every irregularity mercilessly, so reckon with polishing. The chrome on the strips, the window frames and the bumper is the key - it pays to use a quality chrome paint or foil. The interior of a luxury car is visible, so pay attention to the seats, the wood trim and the rear bench. Glue the transparent parts with glue for clear plastics.
