Itsuki Takeuchi's Toyota Corolla Levin AE85 from the Initial D series, 1:24 scale — a plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima based on the famous racing manga and anime.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima, part of the licensed Initial D range, captures the Toyota Corolla Levin AE85 driven in the story by Itsuki Takeuchi, the best friend of the hero Takumi. The 1:24 scale matches the usual standard for car models.
Initial D is a cult Japanese manga and anime about night racing on mountain passes. In the story Itsuki longs for the legendary AE86, but buys an AE85 by mistake, the weaker sibling of the famous car. While the AE86 is powered by a sixteen-valve four-cylinder engine, the AE85 got a simpler 1.5-liter unit, and exactly that difference is the source of many of the funniest moments in the series. That is also why Itsuki's Levin holds a firm place among fans: it is the car of an ordinary kid who loves driving even without the fastest machine.
Paint the body to match the car as it appears in the series; the boxy shapes of the 1980s Corolla reward careful masking of the dividing lines when you spray the two-tone finish. Keep the wheels and the chassis clean and simple, because Itsuki's car is a street machine, not a racing special. The interior benefits from a dark wash and a dry brush on the dashboard. The finished model looks excellent beside the other cars from the Initial D series, and a collection from Mount Akina grows nicely with this one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
