An injection-molded plastic kit of the competition Celica Turbo 4WD in a boxing devoted to the winning car of the Swedish Rally of 1993. The model comes from the Japanese maker Hasegawa, which has the rally Celica covered in a larger series of boxes differing in the event, the season and the markings. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are stated on the box; what always decides is the enclosed instructions.
The Celica Turbo 4WD is the competition version of the generation with a smooth rounded body, built to Group A rules. Under the hood worked a turbocharged two-liter four-cylinder, and the power was delivered to all four wheels through permanent drive with a center differential. In the first half of the 1990s the car was among the best in the world championship and stood behind works as well as private successes in events from African gravel to northern winter stages. The Swedish Rally is the only championship event run on snow and ice, where studded tires are used and speed relies on leaning on the snow banks on the outside of corners, so both the setup and the driving style differ markedly from the other events.
A rally car stands or falls with its decals; their extent tends to be large, and it is good to lay them onto a smoothly varnished glossy surface and to use a decal softener, so that they sit into the pressings. Paint the body in thin coats, as the sponsor areas need an even surface. Mask the glazing before spraying. If you want the car in its after-the-stage state, add a fine tint of pigment onto the fenders and the sills and dirty the wheels; on a winter event a layer of melting slush made from acrylic paste also works well. The interior with its cage and shell seats is visible through the windows, so it pays to work it out carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
