This unassembled and unpainted plastic kit in 1:24 scale captures the Japanese Toyota Mark II sedan in the JZX100 version with Tourer V equipment, that is the form of the 2000 model year. The kit is made by the Japanese company Aoshima, whose models of Japanese production cars are among the most extensive on the market.
The Mark II of the X100 series came in in the mid-1990s and, against its angular predecessors, brought rounder shapes, but it kept the proven layout with a longitudinally mounted inline six-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive. The Tourer V stood at the top of the sportier range: it combined a turbocharged two-and-a-half-liter six-cylinder engine with a firmer chassis and different equipment compared with the comfort versions. It is thanks to exactly this combination that the JZX100 became one of the most sought-after Japanese sedans among enthusiasts of modifications. The form of the 2000 model year corresponds to the close of production of this generation.
Clean the body up, sand it down and lay a primer under it. A sporting sedan will take both a rich single-color finish and a metallic; mix a metallic paint thoroughly and spray it onto a smooth base, best at the very end, because it masks badly. Finish the surface with a gloss varnish and polish it out. Bring the window frames and the trim strips out with matte black over masking tape. If you are going to add decals to the model, apply them over a gloss base and use a softener. Finish the interior, the dashboard and the chassis before you close the body up; on a sporting version it pays to give attention to the seats and the center tunnel. Do not glue the tires with an ordinary cement for plastic.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
