The kit is made by the Japanese company Aoshima, which has long devoted itself to Japanese production cars.
The Cresta was one of the three sibling sedans of the X80 series — alongside the Mark II and Chaser types it shared both mechanicals and the basis of the body, but it differed in the look of its front end and rear and in the tuning of the range. The car built on a longitudinally mounted inline six-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive, that is on the combination that later made this family famous among enthusiasts of Japanese sedans. The designation JZX81 refers to the version with a two-and-a-half-liter inline six-cylinder engine, and the Super Lucent G equipment was among the better-equipped forms, with an emphasis on the comfort of the occupants.
Clean up the mold parting lines of the body, sand it down and lay a primer under it — on a sedan with large flat surfaces every unevenness gives itself away. Spray the base color in thin coats; among period shades single-color finishes and fine metallics both suit; mix a metallic paint thoroughly and apply it at the very end, because it is harder to mask. Finish the surface with a gloss varnish and polish it out. Bring the window frames, the trim strips and the grille out with matte or semi-gloss black over masking tape. Do not sand the chrome parts. Finish the interior, the dashboard and the chassis before you close the body up, and do not glue the tires with a cement for plastic.
