This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from Japan's Tamiya captures the racing Toyota Supra GT in the colors of the Castrol Tom's team, as it started in the Japanese touring car championship JGTC. The model faithfully carries over the widely flared fenders, the hood with its air outlets and the massive rear wing. The interior is fitted with a roll cage and is worked out in detail, fire extinguisher and hoses included. The chassis has racing suspension with a double wishbone system.
The Toyota Supra GT of the Castrol Tom's team was among the leaders of the Japanese Grand Touring championship (JGTC) in the mid-1990s. The car was based on the production Supra of the JZA80 generation, but for racing it was given a markedly widened body, aerodynamic features and a turbocharged racing engine. The white and green Castrol colors became one of the best-known designs in Japanese circuit racing.
Bond the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Build the white base of the body up over a primer and paint with an airbrush in thin coats — clean white is demanding in coverage. Apply the striking green Castrol graphics from the decals onto a perfectly glossy base, so that the large sheets do not wrinkle; then seal them with a clear coat. Finish the roll cage and the interior details before you close the body up. Bond the glazing and the lights with glue for clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
