Vickers K 1:24 is a resin pair of British aircraft machine guns for detailing large models. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory to be fitted to a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a pair of Vickers K aircraft machine guns in 1:24 scale. In a large scale the gun is a conspicuous element that the viewer studies from close up, and the simplified plastic casting from the box tends to show as a weak point. The resin parts capture the shapes and the surface texture far more accurately. This is not an aircraft model and not a toy in its own right, but an accessory meant to be fitted to a model under construction or already finished, or to a display case with a figure, or into a diorama.
The Vickers K, also known as the Vickers Gas Operated, was a British 7.7 mm aircraft machine gun. Unlike the older belt-fed Vickers guns it was gas-operated and the rounds were fed from a pan magazine mounted on top. The combination of a high rate of fire and a quick magazine change made it the typical weapon of the flexible positions of observers and gunners on British airplanes of the 1930s and 1940s. Later the same gun also appeared on light ground vehicles.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a disc and never snap them off — the thin parts of the gun break easily. Make the joints with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. A dark steel or graphite shade will handle the painting; lay a dark wash over it and lighten the edges with a fine dry brush. Suggest wear sparingly and only where hands really touched the gun.
This is an accessory, not a complete kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
