An injection-molded plastic kit of the classic Volkswagen Type 2 van in the passenger Micro Bus form, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. According to the name the package is completed with parts and accessories associated with the Mooneyes brand and with custom accessories, so it is aimed at a modified form of the vehicle. The particular list of parts is given in the instructions enclosed with the package.
The Volkswagen Type 2 is a commercial and passenger vehicle with a van body, built on mechanicals derived from the Type 1, that is, with an air-cooled four-cylinder engine mounted at the rear. The passenger version with a glazed body became a symbol of the leisure culture of the 1960s and 1970s and is still among the favorite bases for modification today. Mooneyes is an American accessories brand associated with the custom and hot rod scene, whose parts still appear on modified vehicles.
The large flat areas of the body reveal every unevenness, so a primer and paint in several thin coats pay off. The two-tone schemes typical of this type of vehicle call for careful masking and for the first color to dry sufficiently. Cement the chromed accessories with a glue that does not fog the surface. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals and, at the end, unify the surface and polish it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
