The Volkswagen Beetle in its modern form is a retro-styled car with front-wheel drive, the engine at the front and bodywork that echoes the shapes of the original Beetle: an arched roof, strongly bulging fenders and round headlights. It differs from the technically unrelated original car in practically everything under the sheet metal; what links them is a deliberate styling line. The car was sold in many color schemes, and the color of the body is the strongest means of expression on this model.
The model can be assembled without glue, but for a permanently firm and clean result it pays to secure the critical joints with a spot of cement for plastic. First, though, consider the painting: if you want to spray the body, assemble the model dry, check the fit, take it apart again and paint it part by part. Sand the body down, unify it with primer and apply the color in thin coats; the final gloss coat makes the biggest difference on small car models. Fit the glazing and the headlights only after painting and protect them with masking tape. Do not take sandpaper to the chrome parts unnecessarily, as the marks show clearly on a polished surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and, thanks to the easy-click design, it can be assembled without glue. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
