About product

Avro Lancaster B.I Fanlight Fanny 1:32 — a Kits-World decal sheet

A standalone decal sheet from the manufacturer Kits-World intended for large models of the four-engine Avro Lancaster bomber in 1:32 scale. It carries the markings of the machine with the serial number LL785 and the fuselage codes WS-F of No. 9 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, and the period painting on the forward fuselage that carried the name Fanlight Fanny. The decals are printed on a continuous carrier film and separate from the paper backing after soaking. Which individual pieces of artwork and inscriptions the sheet contains follows the illustration on the packaging; compare it before buying with what you actually need on the model.

The real subject

The Avro Lancaster was a British heavy bomber of all-metal construction with four Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines and a twin vertical tail surface at the ends of the horizontal tail. Version B.I corresponds to the basic form with British-built engines. The most striking design feature of the type is the long undivided bomb bay running through the middle of the fuselage. The fuselage markings consisted of a pair of unit letters and one individual aircraft letter, here WS and F, supplemented by the serial number at the rear.

How to use the sheet

In 1:32 scale the artwork is large, and that is the main pitfall: a large-area decal easily folds over on itself and such a crease can no longer be unfolded. Work in a sufficiently wide dish, therefore, carry the decal onto the model together with the paper backing and slide it off the backing only in place. Keep the area under the decal wet so that the artwork can be moved, and blot off the excess water from the center toward the edges with a soft cloth. The surface must be smooth and glossy, otherwise air is trapped under the film and a silvery veil forms.

Who the sheet is for

  • Builders of large Lancaster models in 1:32 scale
  • Modelers focused on British aviation of the Second World War
  • Those who want to complete a model with particular period markings
  • More experienced modelers who can handle large-area decals

This is a standalone decal sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. This is solely a decal sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the package.

For models of the Avro Lancaster bomber in 1:32 scale. Before use, compare the shape and size of the artwork with the surfaces of your model.

The extent of the sheet and the number of schemes can be told from the illustration on the packaging.

Lay gloss clear under them, work on a wet surface, blot the water outward from the center and give the model a matte or semi-gloss clear coat at the end.
