A set of masking pieces in 1:32 scale for models of the F-4E and F-4J Phantom II aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Phantom II is an American two-seat fighter that served with the air force and the navy alike and became one of the symbols of its era. The F-4E version has a lengthened nose with a built-in gun, while the F-4J version is the naval one. Both have a large, heavily framed canopy over two seats in tandem, and in the large 1:32 scale its framing is a genuinely large area on a model. Masking such a canopy by hand is slow, and a single crooked edge shows from across the table.
This is a set of masking pieces for a model in 1:32 scale, that is an accessory to a kit. The pieces are cut to shape, so there is no measuring and cutting of tape. Which areas the set covers and which kit it is drawn for are given in the enclosed manufacturer's instructions.
Masks belong on clean, degreased glazing, and before spraying rather than once the paint has dried. Lift the pieces with tweezers and press them down all round, above all in the corners and on the curves, where paint creeps under most often. Spray several thin layers; a heavy layer leaves a step at the edge. On a two-seat cockpit it pays to go over the frames with the interior color first and only then with the top shade, so that the transition does not show from inside. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has flashed off, as they peel less easily after standing a long time.
A set of masks is what is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
