Domestic wallpapers for 1:72 scale

Sheets printed with domestic wallpapers, 1:72 scale. They will cover the inner walls of houses in scenes where vehicles play the main part and the building forms the background.

Where they come into their own at this scale

Scenes in 1:72 scale tend to be larger in area and smaller in detail: a whole street, an airfield dispersal or a farmstead with a yard will fit on a board. That is exactly why it pays to pay attention to what is visible behind the windows and in breached walls as well. An empty opening reads as a hole into a box, whereas a piece of patterned wall behind it gives the structure depth and the viewer believes the house has an inside. Only a small piece of the sheet goes into one such view.

How to work with the sheets

• Glue the inner wall a little way behind the opening, not in its plane; only that setback creates the sense of space.
• Darken the area behind a window; not that much light falls inside from outside, and too light a wall gives a stage set away.
• Cut the pieces with an overlap and trim the surplus only once it is dry.
• Apply the glue to the base and lay the sheet with tweezers; thin printing ripples between the fingers.
• Test the glue on an offcut first; an unsuitable one will soak through the printing or buckle it.

Who the sheets are for

For builders of scenes in 1:72 scale where buildings complete the vehicles and figures, and for modelers who build separate houses for a display case. The manufacturer states the quantity of sheets and the motifs offered. The model, figures, building materials, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
