An aftermarket resin accessory for modelers, not a kit. It replaces the engine exhaust nozzles of the twin-engine carrier aircraft of the Super Hornet family in the versions stated in the name. On this type the nozzle is one of the most prominent features of the rear end, and a plastic kit usually renders it as two halves with a parting seam in the middle, exactly where the seam is hardest to get rid of.
The Super Hornet uses a pair of engines with a variable exhaust nozzle made up of movable petals. These turn during flight and change the cross section of the nozzle according to the engine setting, so on the ground the petals are usually opened into a characteristic shape. The designations type 1 and type 2 distinguish different forms of the outer petals on nozzles of this kind, so check from a photograph of your aircraft which variant corresponds to what you are building before you buy.
A nozzle is a part where it pays to paint before gluing: you will not spray the inside once the rear end is finished. The procedure: wash off the mold release, primer, then the metallic shades. The inner part tends to be lighter and more yellowed by heat, the outer petals darker and weathered. Layering several metallic tones and fine transitions with an airbrush work nicely here, together with a dark wash in the seams between the petals. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; before gluing, check that the diameter matches the fuselage and even it out with a thin strip of plastic if necessary.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The set is cut for one specific kit, which the name states; please check the match with the model you are building before you buy. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
