A figure of a First World War pilot in 1:32 scale, offered in winter dress. According to the name it is a German or Austro-Hungarian airman, so it suits models of both air services. The figure brings an aircraft model and a display case to life, because only next to a human being does the real size of the machine show on a model.
First World War aircraft had open cockpits and the crew had no protection against the cold in them. As altitude increased the temperature fell quickly, so pilots flew in leather coats, hoods and goggles, often with a warm layer underneath. The winter appearance of an airman therefore differs from the summer one at first glance.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder back, so that the surface of the surrounding folds does not disappear. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Wash and degrease the figure before painting, otherwise paint will not hold on the surface. Paint from the base coat toward the details and leave the face until the end. On the leather parts a darker base works well with fine lightening of the edges with a dry brush, because it is the edges that reveal the shape of the clothing.
The figure is intended for builders of First World War aircraft in the large 1:32 scale and for makers of dioramas of field airfields. It also comes into its own as a standalone figure for practicing the painting of skin and cloth.
Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
