The second numbered version of wall and floor tiles from the range of printed RT-Diorama accessories for dioramas in 1:35 scale. It is a flat subject meant for walls and floors, not a kit of a building. The number in the name tells the individual patterns of the range apart, so that a modeler picks the one corresponding to the period and the purpose of his structure.

Why it pays to deal with the floor

A diorama comes about in layers: the rough structure and the terrain first, then the surfaces, and the figures and the equipment only at the end. The surface of the floor is at the same time the layer the viewer notices first, because it lies under all the other elements and ties them together. Uniform wall and floor tiles in scale hold a scene together and keep it from coming across as a collection of unconnected details.

What to think about in the composition

• Set out the furniture, crates and equipment only once the surface is finished, not the other way around.
• Leave a continuous free area on which the drawing of the tiling stands out.
• Joints running at right angles to the main line of sight lengthen a space to the eye.
• Cover the transition between the floor and the wall with a baseboard, a threshold or fine rubble.
• Add a darker shadow under the furniture, or the objects will look as though they are floating.

It is suitable for city dioramas in 1:35 scale, the interiors of workshops, shops and dwelling houses and for display-case vignettes, where the whole scene fits in the palm of a hand and all the surfaces are visible close up.
