The double-sided printed fabric belts HGW 1:32 Jeannin Stahltaube – Double-sided Seatbelts for an open cockpit. Laser-cut fabric with metal buckles.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set for a cockpit, not a kit of the aircraft. The straps are of microtextile cut by laser and rounded out with photo-etched metal buckles. The designation Double-sided means that the fabric is printed on both sides, so the belt looks true even where its reverse is visible.
The Jeannin Stahltaube was among the monoplanes of the Taube type from the early days of aviation, characteristic in design for a steel frame and a wide open pilot's position. On an aircraft like that a strap routinely twists, turns over and falls over the edge of the seat, so the reverse is seen as often as the face. Fabric printed on one side only would give away a white or neutral base in such a place; with the double-sided variant that problem falls away and the belt can be arranged completely freely.
Take the part out of the sheet, remove the backing paper and work the strap between your fingers, so that it softens. The ends are threaded through the buckles and secured with a spot of cyanoacrylate. The fabric will take a fine wash with an oil or an enamel paint, which gives weathering matching the period material. Work with tweezers and a sharp scalpel and try the belt dry first, and only then glue it.
This is not a model of the aircraft, but an accessory for the interior. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
