Aviattic 1:32 Ltn. Walter Karjus: an unpainted figure of a German fighter pilot of the First World War in flying gear, intended for large models of Great War machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
This unpainted figure from the manufacturer Aviattic in 1:32 scale portrays a German fighter pilot of the First World War, whom the manufacturer names as Lieutenant Walter Karjus. The figure is the ideal companion to large models of German fighters, because beside a machine it creates a human scale and gives a scene the atmosphere of a forward airfield.
German fighter pilots served in squadrons called Jasta, which toward the end of the war were grouped into larger formations. Their typical gear included leather and fabric overalls, helmets, goggles and scarves protecting them from the cold in open cockpits. It is precisely this characteristic silhouette of a Great War airman that makes pilot figures a rewarding accessory to any large model.
Wash the casting clean of mold release residue, clean up the casting marks and join the parts with super glue. Once it is primed, paint with acrylics; for the face and the leather parts of the gear, oil glazes have proved themselves, because they create soft transitions and a natural worn look. A matte clear coat at the end evens the surface out, and the goggles can be livened up with a drop of gloss.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
