A set of pre-cut painting masks for a model of the Westland Lynx Mk.8 helicopter in 1:32 scale. The masks cover the areas that are to stay unpainted during spraying; typically that means the cockpit glazing, where a crisp boundary between the frame and the glass is hard to cut freehand. Which parts of the model the set covers and in what order they are applied are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Westland Lynx is a British twin-engined helicopter that came about in land-based as well as naval forms. The Mk.8 version belongs to the naval branch and served with the Royal Navy from the decks of surface ships.
The masks are applied before spraying, onto a clean and degreased surface. Lift a mask off the backing with a sharp point, lay it in place and press the edges down carefully so that paint does not bleed under them. Then apply the paint in several thin coats; a single heavy coat will leave a noticeable step at the edge of the mask. Remove them slowly and at a sharp angle while the finish is not yet fully cured. Do not touch the glazing with your fingers before applying, as a mask will not hold on a greasy surface.
The model of the helicopter, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. Which kit the masks are cut for and what exactly they cover are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
