The fabric seat belts HGW 1:32 Me 262 A Schwalbe – Orlon (Ersatz) Seatbelts reproduce replacement straps of synthetic fiber. Laser-cut fabric with photo-etched buckles.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set for the cockpit, not a kit of the aircraft. It holds straps of printed microtextile cut by laser and photo-etched metal buckles. The manufacturer describes it as the Orlon (Ersatz) variant, that is the form matching the replacement material of synthetic fiber that was used instead of ordinary webbing at the close of the Second World War.
The replacement straps had a different texture and a different shade from the standard webbing, which tells on a model in a large scale. The set is therefore intended for builders who want an interior matching the late period of production of the aircraft, rather than a cockpit put together in general terms. The Me 262 A was a single-seat jet fighter with a well-glazed cabin, so the seat and the belts stay visible even once the canopy is closed.
Take the part out of the sheet, remove the backing paper and work the strap between your fingers; the fabric then holds its shape and can be left to fall loose over the edge of the seat. The buckles are threaded onto the ends and secured with a spot of cyanoacrylate. The fabric will take a fine wash or a filter to dirty the straps down; given the character of the replacement material it is advisable to keep to restrained weathering without pronounced stains.
This is not a model of the aircraft, but an accessory for the interior. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
