A printed decal sheet in 1:32 scale for a model of the aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun. This is neither a model nor a kit but a separate accessory meant for a kit already bought. It holds decals only. The exact extent of the sheet, the number of schemes offered and the particular machines are given on the box of the set.
The Bf 108 Taifun was an all-metal cantilever low-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear, an enclosed cabin for four people and an air-cooled inverted-V engine. It came about as a fast touring and sporting aircraft and for its day it was remarkable for the combination of an aerodynamically clean airframe, good slow flying qualities thanks to the flaps and slats, and a fairly long range. It was exactly on the Taifun that the design team tried out a number of solutions that then appeared on the later Bf 109 fighter, for example the all-metal structure with a thin wing and the main landing gear attached in the fuselage. The aircraft was used for carrying people, for liaison flights and for training, and after the war it was built under license in France as well.
First paint the model and go over it with a gloss varnish, so that no silvery film stays under the decal. Cut the motif out close, soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest for a while. A drop of water with a degreaser makes sliding it into place easier. A softener will help the decal flow around the scribing and the rivets; with the large registration marks on the wing it pays off in particular. Once it has dried, rinse the surface and fix it with a matte or satin varnish according to the character of the real machine.
