This product is not a kit and not a complete photo-etched set for a cockpit. It is one finished part: an instrument panel for the Dassault Mirage III in the E and R versions in 1:32. It is etched from thin sheet and printed in color at the manufacturer, dials, scales and lettering included. It is glued into a model without a single brush stroke. In a large scale, where the cockpit is roomy and clearly visible, a legible panel shows to greatest effect.
The Mirage III was a French supersonic combat aircraft of tailless layout with a delta wing, powered by a single jet engine. The E version was multirole and was used for attacks on ground targets and for fighter duties alike; the R version was the reconnaissance one, with a modified nose for photographic equipment. Both forms shared the basic layout of the cockpit, which is why the manufacturer covers the panel for both with one item. The cockpit was equipped with classic round instruments distributed over the whole front wall.
Remove or thin the plastic panel from the kit so that the etched part sits at the correct depth. In 1:32 it is worth matching the color of the surrounding structure too, because the panel draws the eye. Separate the part from the fret with a sharp cutter and level the edges with a file. Glue with a drop of cyanoacrylate applied with a pin around the perimeter of the reverse side. Do not overspray the printing; for the impression of glazing, put a drop of gloss varnish or clear glue for clear parts onto the individual dials.
This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
