QMT resin wheels for the F-4J Phantom II (early) 1:32

A set of cast resin wheels intended to replace the plastic wheels of the base model. The form is not weighted, that is the tire has an undeformed, naturally circular profile with no flattening from the weight of the airplane. The real subject is the American twin-engine fighter McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. The wheels correspond to the early form of this version. This is not a kit but a detail accessory for the landing gear. The manufacturer is QMT.

Use and fitting

  • Cut the wheels off the casting blocks and wash them free of mold release agent residue
  • Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate)
  • Treat them with primer before painting and paint the tires and the hubs with an airbrush or a brush
  • A patina is worth adding for a realistic look
