The P-47D Thunderbolt was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a piston radial engine and supercharged by a turbocharger housed in the rear part of the fuselage, to which a long duct led from the engine; it is precisely because of that duct that the aircraft had such a bulky fuselage. The designation razorback came into use for the older standard with a raised spine behind the cockpit and a framed canopy, that is for the machines from the time before the teardrop cockpit was introduced. In the Pacific these aircraft flew long routes over the sea and carried conspicuous unit markings and personal artwork, which come into their own on a model in 1:32 scale.
The decal set is listed for 1:32 scale and for the razorback standard. The abbreviation in the name tells apart the first part of a line, which further sheets with the same subject follow on from. The list of the particular machines, their units and color schemes is given by the manufacturer in the instructions enclosed with the sheet.
Cut the motif out as closely as possible and soak it in lukewarm water until it begins to come free of the backing. Clear coat the surface of the model with a gloss beforehand, so that no air is trapped under the decal and no matte frame appears around the motif. Slide the decal onto the place, press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges and let it dry thoroughly. Whether a softener is appropriate with this line is stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
This is a decal sheet on its own for building a model. Paints, clear coats and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
