The P-51K was one of the production versions of the American single-seat P-51 Mustang fighter. It differed from the more widespread D version mainly in a propeller from a different supplier; otherwise it was the same machine with a bubble canopy and a good view to the rear. It is exactly that open canopy that makes the cockpit the most conspicuous place on a finished model, which is why it is worth investing more detail there.
The set brings photo-etched metal parts for the equipment of the interior in 1:32 scale. Photo-etching allows thin, flat and pierced shapes that cannot be made in injection-molded plastic, so the replaced elements look more delicate than the original parts of the kit. On interior photo-etched sets the abbreviation S.A. in the name corresponds to a self-adhesive version of the parts; check this in the manufacturer's instructions before applying them, as they also state the extent of the set.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and then sand the remains of the tabs. Make the bends on the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool, always in one movement. They are glued with super glue in a minimal amount; with self-adhesive parts the surface has to be clean and degreased, otherwise the joint will come loose in time. Wash, degrease and prime parts without a surface finish before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
The set suits modelers who want a more detailed cockpit than the base kit provides. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
